The Friends of Sophia Goulden held their annual general meeting on Friday at the St John’s Methodist Church Hall.
During it, the committee unveiled the design for the proposed statue of Lonan-born Mrs Goulden, a pioneer for women’s rights and the mother of Emmeline Pankhurst, who campaigned for female suffrage in the UK.
The meeting followed an evening at the Laxey Christ Church the week before when the Women’s Instutute choir Arrayne anys Arrane sang with the Three Bases.
The soprano Kay Harper was a guest and Karen Elliot conducted the choir.
The meeting was informed of upcoming events which includes the Magic Lantern Show to be held by Jack Kaighan at the Loch Promenade in Douglas on September 17.
There is also a coffee morning to be held in Ramsey Town Hall on September 8.
