Finch Hill Bowling Club, in Douglas, is hosting an open day for people to find out about the facilities on offer and learn more about its Victorian pavilion.

The park, nestled between Grosvenor Road, Demesne Road and Kensington Road, is home to Douglas Tennis Club, Finch Hill Bowling Club, basketball and snooker - as well as being a quiet spot to sit and enjoy the gardens.

The open day takes place on Sunday, July 2, from 1pm to 4pm.

Peter Kelly of the Isle of Man Victorian Society will give a short talk on the history of the site from 1pm.

And visitors will be able to try out the facilities on offer.

Club member Stephen Moore said: ’The great thing about this park is that it is located in the heart of Douglas serving what could be described as the needs of the people providing an open green space in one of the densest urban space on the island.

’Having said that sometimes it can be forgotten that the park is here, and these open days serve both to remind people where we are and to attract new members.’
