Denise Hall, first chairwoman of Onchan Commissioners, died on Monday at the age of 70.

A funeral service for Ms Hall, who was born in Ashton-under-Lyne in Manchester, will take place at the Douglas crematorium next Thursday (December 28) at 10am.

Her son, Martin Hall who lives in Onchan, said: ’She was a very calm person and her focus was on her family and helping others. That was what she was all about.’

Denise Hall, who died of natural causes, joined the commissioners during the 1980s after spending many years as a nurse at the Old Noble’s Hospital, Douglas, and in the United States.

A ’service of celebration’ in Onchan Methodist Church will also take place on Thursday at 10.30am.
