Gale force winds and heavy rain is causing disruption across the island.
There were numerous reports of fallen trees and flooding on the roads island-wide.Police advised the public to go out only if absolutely necessary and if you do need to travel, to be extra careful on the roads and drive according to the conditions.Douglas promenade between the war memorial and Bottleneck car park will be closed until 9.30am tomorrow (Sunday) due to the high tide and wind.
Highways teams have been clearing a number of fallen trees from the island’s roads.
The latest tree fall has been reported at Creg Willey’s Hill, Glen Helen. It’s believed the tree is passable with care.
The northern civic amenity site closed early for the day.
This morning’s return Steam Packet sailing to Birkenhead was cancelled.
A decision is due to be made by 5pm on tonight’s Heysham sailing.
A yellow weather warning for heavy rain and gales has been issued by the Met Office.
It remains in place until 11.30pm tonight.
The warning states: ’Island-wide risk for rain amounts. Mainly eastern and southern parts of the island at risk of severe gales.’
