Despite a rainy start to the day, more than 50 men and women revved their classic engines while wearing tweed in support of prostate cancer and mental health causes.
The island’s Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride took place on Sunday with the crowd gathering at the Grandstand in Douglas and making their way to Castletown before reaching Foraging Vintners in Port Erin.
Dressed in ’gentlemen’s’ attire - complete with curly moustaches - they managed to raise nearly £4,000 for the charities, with donations continuing to roll in.
Organiser Karl Millar said: ’We got absolutely saturated, but as soon as we got to Castletown the sun was out and it was absolutely glorious!
’A few people had contacted me saying they were sorry for missing it as they thought it would have been cancelled because of the rain.
’We had about 55 people take part out of the 87 that had signed up.
’It was a success as far as I’m concerned!’
The purpose of the ride-out is not only to raise money towards charity, but to ’give people a little bit of knowledge’ on prostate cancer and men’s mental health issues, said Karl.
’People did come up to us and ask what we were doing it for.
’Hopefully it will make them think: "Oh! Actually I might get checked" or "I am feeling a bit down, I might get some support",’ he added.
Karl thanked everyone who supported this year’s event.
