One of the island’s brightest stage prospects has completed her final group performance at the London School of Musical Theatre.

Georgia Maddocks, aged 20, from Douglas, was selected as one of 42 students from more than 750 applicants for the one-year musical theatre course.

Her group performed ’Lock up your Daughters’ a musical based on an 18th century comedy called ’Rape upon Rape’ written by Henry Fielding, at Bridewell Theatre in Blackfriars, London.

Miss Maddocks told the Manx Independent: ’I am so grateful to have worked on such an incredible production with an amazing cast and crew.

’It will be an experience I will never forget.’

’To work alongside such talented performers and be coached by truly inspirational teachers and industry experts has been incredible, and I couldn’t wish for a better start to my musical theatre career.’

Following the group performance, Georgia will perform an individual piece to theatre agents, where students hope to be talent spotted.

Miss Maddocks’ talents is already known in the island after her performances in Taylorian Productions’ staging of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat musical at the Gaiety last year.

She expressed her thanks to Stuart Colligon and his colleagues at locally based company Auxesia who assisted her with the financial cost of living in London and she says provided ’invaluable advice and guidance over the past nine months’.

Mr Colligon said: ’We are so impressed with Georgia and how well she is doing at LSMT.

’It continues to be a pleasure to help Georgia.

’She has so much natural talent and we have no doubt her ambition of having a long and successful career in musical theatre is well within her reach.’
