Peel Golf Club has donated £1,500-worth of equipment to a school’s special education unit.
Each year, every golf club captain chooses a charity or organisation to benefit from fundraising held during his or her captaincy.
This year, Peel club captain Andy Colgan chose the unit at Peel Clothworkers’ School to benefit from the money at the club.
Mr Colgan said: ’I am very proud that the members generosity enabled the unit to buy a flat screen TV, a Blu-Ray player and Apple TV device.
’The equipment will help to further the children’s education including action songs, phonics and number bonds.
’It will also assisst in putting on events for the children to share with their parents.’
The special education unit at Peel Clothworkers was officially opened in 2008 by former MLC Eddie Lowey.
Jo Colgan, Mr Colgan’s wife, is the senior educational support officer at the unit.
Mr Colgan added: ’It was a great privilege and an honour to serve as captain of Peel.
’I’d like to thank everyone who contributed during the year and hope the children enjoy using the equipment.’
