Following the Chief Minister’s announcement on Thursday afternoon, some outdoor sports and recreational activities will be able to take place when following the strict guidelines set out below.

As of midnight tonight (Friday, January 22), individuals from any household may exercise outdoors with no limit on time, providing they maintain two-metre social distancing from anyone outside their household group.

Individuals can exercise together from different households as long as they socially distance and wear face coverings when at all possible.

Outdoor sports and activities only are permitted, no indoor sport.

Clubhouses, changing rooms and toilets at sport facilities are to remain closed.

Face coverings are strongly recommended to be worn during exercise, particularly in crowded areas or where maintaining two-metre social distancing from others is difficult.

There should be no sharing or touching of communal equipment.

Anyone confirmed as Covid-19 positive, or have been told to self-isolate for any reason, will have been given specific instructions regarding activities they can undertake and when - but in no circumstances until they have been released from self-isolation.

Local sports associations and clubs are advised to visit the https://covid19.gov.im website for guidance.

Sports should also seek the advice and specific guidance for their own sports and activities from their national governing body of sport.
