Two of the three children who were taken to Noble’s Hospital after taking drugs they had found have been released from hospital.
The third child is still in hospital but is said to be recovering well and it is hoped will be able to go home today (Tuesday).
The incident happened on Thursday, when police were called to the area of the Bowl at the National Sports Centre after concern was raised over the welfare of a child.
It was established that the child was in need of medical attention following a reaction to a substance which they had ingested.
Subsequently three children, all aged either 11 or 12, were admitted to Noble’s for treatment and care.
Detective Sergeant John Mitchell told the Examiner yesterday (Monday): ’Two of the children are home. One was released yesterday and one today. The third child is recovering well and hopefully will be released tomorrow.
’Investigations into the circumstances of the incident are ongoing.’
The mother of one of the children, Emma Cooper, hit out on Facebook saying: ’There is probably someone out there on Facebook reading all that has happened.
’The person who stashed a bag of ecstasy and five bags of crack cocaine/MDMA in a wall behind Road and Track motorbikes.
’I hope the guilt is eating you up. You are probably sitting there. In your nice cosy place, whilst my son and two of his friends are in hospital. I pray they find fingerprints and arrest you.’
Police said that the children had found the substance in central Douglas earlier that day.
A member of the public contacted the emergency services after becoming concerned at the behaviour of one of the children behind the Bowl.
Police have appealed for help in their inquiries.
