More than 130 people who visited a wine bar, identified as a high risk location for Covid-19, are now self-isolating after an appeal on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, three new Covid cases have been confirmed, taking the total number of active cases to 15, with one of these in hospital.

Health Minister David Ashford told Wednesday’s Covid briefing that two of the new cases were identified through day one testing and none are related to the current clusters.

He told iomtoday that the cluster of three announced on New Year's Eve has to date no further identified transmission.

None are yet classified as recovered as their self-isolation was restarted from the point of identification.

There are two clusters announced this week with two and four cases, a total of six.

Anyone who attended the Truth Wine & Tapas bar on Parliament Street in Ramsey, on either New Year’s Eve or Saturday, January 2, was asked to self-isolate immediately.

The venue was identified as a high risk location after an individual, who was identified as a close contact of a confirmed case, tested positive for Covid-19.

This individual is known to have been in the premises on two separate evenings:

Thursday, December 31 - 5pm to 1am

Saturday, January 2 - 5pm to 11.45pm

Dr Henrietta Ewart, Director of Public Health, said: ’More than 130 people, who visited the bar on the dates and times specified, are now self-isolated and awaiting tests.

’If anyone else was at the venue please contact Covid-111 for further advice.’

In addition, 14 further locations have been identified that pose a low risk of contracting Covid-19 for people who visited on the dates and times listed below.

Dr Ewart, added: ’People who visited these venues do not need to self-isolate. However, if people were at these locations we ask them to self-monitor for Covid-19 symptoms, including fever of any grade, cough or difficulty breathing, for 14 days from the date they were there. If they develop symptoms they should self-isolate immediately and call Covid-111 for further advice.’

The businesses that have been visited do not need to take any action in relation to this.
