A doctors’ surgery under threat of closure is to stay open after all.
Snaefell Surgery in Anagh Coar will remain open.
Minister for Health and Social Care David Ashford told the Courier: ’The financial relationship has not changed.
’The department and practice have sat down and worked through what the practice is entitled to under the new contract that applies to all GPs from the new financial year in a few days’ time and, as a result, the GPs are content and have rescinded the notice.
’The GPs have worked very closely with the department for which we are extremely grateful and the outcome is a great result for patients and provides continuity.
He added: ’This positive outcome, which is great news and ends a period of uncertainty for Snaefell Surgery’s patients. I thank all those involved in finding a solution.’
The team at Snaefell Surgery has 5,400 patients.
It has recently recruited two part-time GP partners and an advanced nurse practitioner.
Practice manager Robin Hynes said: ’We feel reassured enough at present that we have adequate funding to continue to provide the friendly and efficient service that our patients deserve.’
