Guernsey has confirmed a second case of Covid in the community and is still trying to trace the source of infection.

Confirmation came as direct flights resumed between the Bailiwick and the Isle of Man.

The first new case of Covid in Guernsey was announced on Monday. A second was identified late on Tuesday.

This was picked up through the contact tracing process.

The States of Guernsey said the first case had not travelled in the last 14 days and the individual had adhered to all public health guidance.

They are still working to establish the source of infection.

Tests on a total of 365 people have been carried out.

Dr Nicola Brink, director of public health, said: ’The focus of the track and trace team is to identify the source of the infection and identify all potential contacts of this person, to prevent further onward spread in the community.

’As it is unclear how this infection occurred, I think it is important to remind the community of the importance of sticking to the rules with regard to Covid-19.’

Aurigny flights between Guernsey and Ronaldsway resumed on Wednesday with further flights on Saturday and half-term week next week. It is understood that the number of cases is not sufficient to trigger a review of the air bridge agreement.
