Staff from Elder Healthcare have been presented with awards by the island’s chief nurse Linda Radcliffe.
Healthcare assistant awards were presented to seven recipients at Elder Grange Nursing Home, in Douglas, including Jackie Corrin, Aaron Holden, Nicola Westhead, Marianna Yenituran, Vilma Rupico, Gemma Noonan and Sara Gavin.
As well as this, awards were presented to Joe Hunter and Alice Andrew-Morris and a Silver Award was also awarded to Lorna Steele for completing qualifications and credit framework (QCF) level three, although they were unable to attend.
The awards form part of a framework for career development for healthcare assistants as they develop from their first jobs and gain experience and who in turn will mentor new staff.
All the staff presented with the awards work for care provider Elder Healthcare at either the Springfield Grange or Elder Grange carehomes, which are both in Douglas.
The framework is run by the Department of Health and Social Care from the chief nurse’s office and consists of a number of awards starting with the care certificate.
As staff gain experience, their competencies are further assessed and awards such as the QCF are presented in health and social care to bronze, silver and gold standard.
