A discussion about how regional television news has covered the pandemic in the Isle of Man is to be held on Friday.

Granada, the ITV station in the north west of England, also covers the Isle of Man.

In the north west, infections have soared again. In contrast, the Isle of Man has been officially free of community transmission of Covid-19 for months.

The Royal Television Society is holding a special Zoom conference event linking the head of news of the Salford-based programme, Lucy West, and Granada’s Isle of Man reporter Josh Stokes to explain how they are covering the story from both sides of the Irish Sea.

The panel will also find out about those challenges where the Isle of Man makes up only about 1% of the audience.

Former Granada and BBC North West correspondent Paul Moulton will be hosting the show and you are also welcome to submit questions during the Zoom conference.

It’s a free event and people can logon at this link - https://rts.org.uk/event/itv-news-and-isle-man
