A local music school has released a statement saying that four of its students have tested positive for Covid-19.

The Rock Project IOM stated that on Wednesday they were initially informed that a close contact of one of their students had tested positive for the virus, and on Thursday the student themselves tested positive also.

The school said that they had been contacted by the government’s test and trace team, and all those who had been in contact with the student at the practice session had been tested and were isolating along with their families.

It explained that ’whilst most results came back negative’, three further students had tested positive.

The school added that because the session that track and trace were concerned about - on Tuesday, February 16 - was the last of the day, that students who attended earlier sessions were not at risk.

Furthermore, only one music tutor was present at the session.

The school’s announcement comes following the emergence of 13 new cases on the island since Thursday, which the government believes to have originated with a Steam Packet staff member.

At this time [the afternoon of Sunday, February 21] the government has yet to release any statement regarding the Rock Project school.
