Two further deaths from coronavirus have been confirmed in the island taking the total number of Covid fatalities to 20.Both deaths were at Abbotswood meaning there have now been 15 deaths at the care home.Two of the five deaths in hospital also involve Abbotswood residents.Since the last update on Sunday there have been no further confirmed positive tests for coronavirus in island - there has only been one new case in six days.

The total number of confirmed cases remains at 308.

Chief Minister Howard Quayle said while the situation at Abbotswood was a 'heartbreaking tragedy', he was pleased that the wider figures remain low.He added: 'We must look beyond daily numbers, however encouraging they may be and see the longer-term trends. 'For the moment, these give us cause for cautious optimism but we cannot be complacent’.

In total 266 patients have been instructed to self-isolate and 22 are being treated at the hospital. The contact tracing process is already underway led by Public Health.

There have been 2,869 concluded tests, 34 people are awaiting results and 40 people are awaiting tests.

In total 248 individuals are presumed recovered.
