The Met Office forecast for Wednesday: ‘Showers will continue to affect the island today, some of which could be heavy and prolonged.

‘Temperatures reaching up to 9°C at best in the light and variable wind.

‘The showers will merge into a longer spell of rain this evening and tonight, as the wind settles to the east or southeast and freshens. Minimum temperature near to 4°C.’
