Curraghs Wildlife Park has welcomed a new member to its extended furry family - Juan the capybara from Dartmoor Zoo.

Juan arrived at the park over the Easter weekend and was initially placed in an introduction pen to allow him to settle in gradually.

He has quickly made friends with three female capybaras – Betsy, Agatha and Mirabell.

‘We recently welcomed Juan and you may have seen him at Easter,’ a spokesperson for the park said.

‘He is now out of his introduction pen and is getting to know his new companions properly.’

Native to South America, the capybara is the world’s largest rodent and is typically found near water such as rivers, lakes and wetlands, reflecting its semi-aquatic lifestyle.
