There’s lots of half term fun to be had on the island next week.
The holiday kicks off with a hunt for a tribe of troublesome LEGO minifigures, who have broken out of the Playful Pasts exhibition at the House of Manannan and youngsters are invited to help LEGO Sherlock to track them down.
They’re not all to be found at the House of Manannan: it is reported that some have even managed to get on the No. 5 bus and escape to the Manx Museum!
The person who successfully locates all of the missing figures and is drawn at random from the correct complete entries will win a display case containing all 32 of the collectible minifigures.
The LEGO on the Loose Minifigures Hunt will run from February half term up to and including Easter 2018: all entries need to be completed and competition slips handed in to either the Manx Museum or House of Manannan sites by Sunday April 22 2018 to be included in the draw.
The hunt coincides with Playful Pasts, an exhibition currently on display at the House of Manannan in Peel, which features a trip down memory lane for visitors with an emporium of treasured toys ranging from LEGO to giant scrabble, train sets and dolls.
Standard admission charges apply at the House of Manannan, with all children receiving free admission with their ACE cards. Admission to the Playful Pasts and Manx Museum exhibition is free with a suggested donation of £1
There are also children’s art workshops on at the Isle Gallery at Tynwald Mills next week, including the wonderfully fun-sounding ’Monster Pots - who can make the best worst pot?’
This is a return of their most popular clay workshops, giving youngsters the opportunity to experience pinch pot building to create their own Monster inspired pot, learning a number of techniques as they do so. They can also come back and learn to glaze the pot.
Full details of all the half term art workshops are at www.theislegallery.com
