A calendar featuring hunks from a northern gym has launched in aid of a Manx charity.
Thirteen men who have posed as dates in island locations have released their Fit Fellas O’ Mann 2020 calendar with all proceeds going to Naseem’s Brain Tumour Charity.
The launch took place at Quay Fitness gym, Gladstone Park, Ramsey, where all men are regulars.
Calendar organiser Ralf Mitchell said the aim was to encourage gym-goers to get in shape for a charitable cause. ’The project has been made easier by the energy and enthusiasm of the guys involved,’ he said. ’In encouraging people who train at Quay Fitness Gym everyone has felt motivated by the mission and the goodwill attached to it. It has been a successful preparation for everyone because it’s different from the routine.’
He said highlights have been the ’positive reception within the Manx community’ with the particular challenge being a change in diets, as the men had to cut down on sugary and processed meals.
’Once the project is finished we will consider what our fresh mission will be next year at the gym. Perhaps a calendar or perhaps something else not done before,’ he added.
The charity - which has been operating for 10 years - was chosen as one of the models has benefited from its support for his daughter.
Photoshoots - by Vasil Hristov of VH Pixels Photography - took place at locations including the Laxey Wheel, the TT Grandstand and the Point of Ayre with some gym-goers wearing kilts sponsored by Manninkilts at Laxey Woollen Mills or dressed as Santa.
Five hundred copies of the calendar are available for £10 each.
They can be found at Marianne’s Flowers in St Paul’s Square, Ramsey, and at Corkill’s Garage in Onchan.
Barclays Bank has donated £500 to the charity after bosses there were told about the calendar.
