A major Celtic folk music festival was rocked by the sounds of two Manx musicians last weekend.
Tomas Callister and Adam Rhodes appeared at the prestigious three-week Celtic Connections festival with their band Imar, performing to a sell out crowd at the Queen Margaret Union Hall, in Glasgow, last Saturday evening.
The pan-Celtic five piece appeared alongside the Basque folk group Huntza, and the Trad Irish group Danu, playing infront of hundreds of festival-goers.
’Celtic Connections is always a blast to be involved in and this year it was no different with our show this year,’ said fiddle player Tomas.
’The show was great and we gave all we had to the standing crowd and after that we headed to the famous Celtic Connections festival club for a loud and rowdy 12.45am slot.
’It’s always a pleasure to play at Celtic Connections, we all live in Glasgow and it really feels like a home gig for us.
The group now head out on a series of gigs that will take them across Europe, followed by a tour of the USA and Canada, in support of their new album ’Avalanche’.
’We’re going to keep up the momentum over the next couple of months and we’ll be out and about on tour, firstly to Ireland for four shows.
’After this we’re away to Denmark for seven shows and then the tour finishes with 12 west coast American and Canadian dates. There’s a few firsts for us on this tour. We’re very excited!’
