A unique festival, taking place throughout the year, will be launched by one of the UK’s most exciting, up-and-coming indie psych-rock bands.

London-based group Indian Queens will headline the first night of the resurgent Deep South Festival during the opening night, which takes place at Tower House, Castle Street, Douglas, on Friday, March 27, from 7.30pm.

The three-piece, which feature sisters guitarist and singer Jennifer and Katherine O’Neil on bass, together with drummer Matt Bick, are set to release their debut album, ’God Is A Woman’ through Bella Union records at the beginning of March, and will head out on a UK-wide tour later in the year.

They are label mates of the part Manx indie group Penelope Isles, who are also signed to Bella Union.

Indian Queens will be joined by the alt-soul singer Satin Beige for the first date of the festival, which will be followed by similar nights at Tower House in April, June, July, August and September and will feature international artists such as Toploader, Space, Steve Harley, the 60s pop group the Troggs and the 90s indie group the Blow Monkeys.

The festival is being held to raise funds for the mental health charity Isle Listen and to raise awareness for mental health issues on and off the island.

Tickets for the opening night are priced £10 for a standing ticket and £16 for a balcony seat and are available from ticketor.com/towerhouse.
