An inquest has opened and adjourned at Douglas Courthouse into the death of a 32-year-old registered mental health nurse from Douglas.

Aimee Woodward, aged 32, of Peel Road, died at the Intensive Care Unit at Noble’s Hospital on Wednesday, August 9.

A post mortem examination by Dr Christopher Peter Thomas Clague gave a cause of death as hypoxic ischemic encephalopathy (HIE) due to an episode of perioperative cardiac arrest.

The inquest was opened by Coroner of Inquests Jayne Hughes and will resume on a date to be decided, pending the outcome of ongoing investigations.
