Plans are being made to mark an international day to celebrate making and performing music, despite the social restrictions that are currently in place.

’Make Music Day’ takes place this year on Sunday, June 21, with events planned across the world to encourage as many people as possible to get involved in making music in any form they can think of.

With the organisers now unable to follow through with plans to hold several public events and to encourage impromptu public gatherings, plans have now switched to host the event online instead.

Anybody wishing to take part will be able to list their online event on the ’Make Music Day IOM’ Facebook page, and any videos produced will be hosted on the same page throughout the day.

The international Make Music Day was first held in the Isle of Man last year, with the emphasis on small and spontaneous gatherings.

The day featured children’s music sessions (pictured above) along with busking-style street performances and a music tent set up on Douglas promenade for people to take part and perform when the mood took them.
