A dance school from the island brought home 155 trophies from a competition in the UK.

Unity Dance School entered six teams to compete in the CheerDance UK competition on Sunday (May 5) with all winning their sections and bringing back cups.

A total of 85 dancers aged from three-years-old to adults went to Liverpool wearing the three legs of Man on the back of their dresses.

Linzi Brown, owner of Unity Dance, said: ’I’m proud of them. It’s an incredible achievement - 155 trophies. The girls were shocked and delighted about it.

’It’s always a tough competition as you’re going into the UK and don’t know the standard of other groups until you go there.

’The girls have been pushed hard in their training.’

She explained that all dancers have solo, duo and team training to build on a variety of techniques.

Most of the dancers managed to get on to the podium for first, second and third place. Trophies were also given to some of those who secured top five placings.

The dance school is the largest on the island for cheer performing.

They will be competing again in September and will have an end of year ultimate championship in Blackpool in November later this year.
