U.S. public health agency the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) has put the island on its travel red list.

It is advising people not to travel to the island because of the ’very high level’ of Covid-19 hyere.

The CDC recommends on its website that ’Because of the current situation in Isle of Man, even fully vaccinated travellers may be at risk for getting and spreading Covid-19 variants’.

It also advises travellers to wear a mask and stay six feet apart from others in the island.

The CDC’s criteria for placing the island at the highest Covid level (level 4) is the island’s case count (the cumulative new cases over the past 28 days) and its new case trajectory - whether daily new cases have increased, decreased, or remained stable over the past 28 days.

The UK is also listed by the CDC at level 4, as is the Republic of Ireland.

The Manx government says that the ruling will not have a ’material impact’ on the island, as our primary transport and economic links are with the UK.
