Lexi Voirrey Dernie is 29 and lives in Port St Mary with her husband James, who she married last year.

She is an advocate with Appleby by day, but outside of work she is a practicing stage magician and member of the Magic Circle, the famous society of magicians and illusionists.

She is currently producing the annual Magician of Mann show, held at the Peel Centenary centre this weekend, and will perform on stage along with a host of other local illusionists.

What is your idea of a perfect meal?

Anything that is easy to cook, probably pizza.

What is your favourite way to relax?

I love to read and go on walks around the island.

What is your greatest extravagance?

I would have to say some of my magic tricks. They are all beautifully made but you do have to save quite a bit for them.

Do you have any pets?

We have a pet budgie called Rico who is very cute.

What is your greatest achievement?

Well, one is when I qualified as an advocate and another is when I was invited to become a member of the Magic Circle, both of which require a lot of hard work. That makes it quite difficult to choose!

What is your favourite time of the year?

I love the snowy winter, where you can wrap up warm in front of the fire.

What is the first job you ever had?

I worked as a studio assistant for the ceramics studio in Silverdale.

Do you have any irrational fears?

I haven’t discovered one yet and hoping I won’t!

What is your worst habit?

I don’t think I have one but I’m sure my husband will disagree! He would probably say my struggle with making it to anything on time.

What is your favourite book?

I have so many favourite books. I would say either Hiding the Elephant by Jim Steinmeyer or the Picture of Dorian Gray by Oscar Wilde.

What is your favourite TV programme?

This always changes but at the moment I am loving Doctor Who and the Apprentice.

What is your favourite band/artist at the moment?

I’m afraid I would probably have to go with Taylor Swift at the moment.

What is your favourite part of the Isle of Man?

I’ve always loved the Sloc Road. It is beautiful up there with some lovely walks along the hills and cliffs. It’s where my husband proposed to me as well which makes it even more special to me.

What is the last show/band that you saw live?

I saw Sarah Millican at the Villa Marina, and who was hilarious as always.

If time/money were no object, what would be your perfect day?

Any day that includes a nice glen walk followed by an afternoon tea with my favourite people.

Choose three people, dead or alive, to invite to dinner?

Oscar Wilde, Jeremy Corbyn and Chung Ling Soo, an American conjourer from Victorian times. He was an incredible magician in his day.
