Grainney Sheard is 27 years old and lives in Lower Foxdale.

She is currently the arts engagement officer for the Isle of Man Arts Council.

Earlier this year Grainney led the Manx delegation at the huge Lorient Inter-Celtic festival of Culture, where island-based musicians and dancers represented the Isle of Man alongside people from all over the world, and was given the prize for the best delegate at the festival.

What is your idea of a perfect meal?

Whenever I am off the island I like to use it as an opportunity to eat food I can’t easily get back home, so it would have to be sushi or just about anything from the Wagamamas menu. I’m a huge lover of Japanese food.

What is your favourite way to relax?

I love to journal and I’m teaching myself to illustrate.

What is your greatest extravagance?

I think it probably has to be clothes. I love playing around with fashion and fancy dress and so I spend a lot of time (and money) in charity shops and vintage stores looking for unique pieces.

Do you have any pets?

Currently I do not have any pets. I am a cat lady with no cats. It’s a bit tragic really. All my life I have always had adult cats and would love to have a pet kitten for the first time.

What is your greatest achievement?

Winning the best delegate award for my time organising the Manx delegation at the Festival Interceltique de Lorient earlier this summer. It has to be the hardest thing I’ve ever done but definitely the most rewarding.

What is your favourite time of the year?

I think it would have to be autumn, particularly Hop tu Naa. I have a real passion for folklore and Manx traditions and customs based on the changing seasons. It’s such a spooky and magical time of year. I love it.

What is the first job you ever had?

My first job was doing the paper round in my local area. I remember constantly having inky black fingertips and going out in the harsh winter weather was always particularly hard.

Do you have any irrational fears?

Mould. I’m really weird about seeing or touching mouldy things.

What is your worst habit?

Procrastination.

What is your favourite book?

Atonement by Ian McEwan.

What is your favourite TV programme?

At the moment I am really enjoying The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina.

What is your favourite band/artist at the moment?

When I was a teenager I was obsessed with The Beatles and I think because of the 50th anniversary of Abbey Road this year I’ve rediscovered my love for them all over again in a big way.

What is your favourite part of the Isle of Man?

This is really hard because there are so many beautiful places here I could choose from! I think though it has to be Slieau Whallian.

What is the last show/band that you saw live?

Caro Emerald at the Villa Marina - she was fantastic!

If time/money were no object, what would be your perfect day?

I would spend the entire day at a cat café in Japan eating sushi and illustrating in my sketchbook.

Choose three people, dead or alive, to invite to dinner?

My high school history teacher, Mrs.Tucker, Sophie Scholl, a political activist in Nazi Germany, and Greta Thunberg.
