Emily Daniel is 16 years old and lives in Derbyhaven. She is currently in year 12, her first year of sixth form at Castle Rushen High School.
She lives with her parents and has two older brothers, Bailey and Alex, who are both at university.
She enjoys playing the piano and dancing (ballet and contemporary) in her free time.
She is also going to take part in the Manx Ballet Company’s performance of the ’Nutcracker’ this weekend at the Gaiety Theatre.
What is your idea of a perfect meal?
This is hard to decide but I think it’d have to be ham and pineapple pizza. A very unpopular choice but definitely the best, in my opinion.
What is your favourite way to relax?
I find having a nice big bubble bath very relaxing.
What is your greatest extravagance?
Nothing at the moment as I’m saving up for a trip with my school’s big band to go to LA in 2020. I’m very excited about it!
Do you have any pets?
When I was much younger we had a rabbit and guinea pig.
What is your greatest achievement?
Getting an A* at music GCSE. I worked really hard so I’m happy it reflected in my result.
What is your favourite time of the year?
Summer because of the weather and long school holiday.
What is the first job you ever had?
Working at Castletown Golf Club’s No.19 cafe. I mainly washed dishes and was the ’gravy lady’, who poured gravy for people at the carvery. It wasn’t too enjoyable, but the people I worked with were great and there’s probably worse first jobs.
Do you have any irrational fears?
Not hugely, although I’d probably scream really loudly if I saw a longtail.
What is your worst habit?
Probably overthinking things.
What is your favourite book?
This is tricky to decide but with school I recently read 1,000 Splendid Suns by Khaled Hosseini. It’s so interesting but also shocking to read.
What is your favourite TV programme?
I don’t watch too much TV, mainly Netflix, but I watched ’The Great British Bake Off’ this year and will be watching ’I’m a Celebrity, Get Me Out of Here’ with my family.
What is your favourite band/artist at the moment?
I’m loving artists like Jorja Smith and Joy Crooks, who have an RnB vibe. Also always supporting Slides, my brother’s band who will have new music on Spotify soon.
What is your favourite part of the Isle of Man?
It would probably be Langness as it is the perfect walk to do from my house.
What is the last show/band that you saw live?
I went and saw The Vamps at the Villa Marina with my friends in the summer. I hadn’t heard too much of their music before but they were so good live!
If time/money were no object, what would be your perfect day?
I’d go to Australia with my brothers and parents. We’d all go to the beach with my family and friends that live down there.
Choose three people, dead or alive, to invite to dinner?
Malala Yousafzai, Freddie Mercury, and both my grandmas, as I can’t choose between them.
