Baby loss awareness week is to be held between October 9 and 15 this year. In an effort to mark the week local charity A Little Piece of Hope have arranged for several buildings to be lit up in pink and blue.

Confirmed so far are: the Tower of Refuge, Douglas power station, Ramsey swing bridge, Douglas town hall, Douglas town centre window displays, Bright Beginnings Nursery and Out of the Blue Hair Studio.

This year’s theme is wellbeing and mental health, and the charity will be holding online support groups and chatting to guest speakers live online about the issues surrounding baby loss.

They will also have a stand at the Strand Shopping Centre, where people can seek support, and pick up candles for free for the ’Wave of Light’ Remembrance Service held on October 15 - the culmination of the week’s events. The service will be live streamed on the group’s Facebook page for those who cannot make it, or would find it too difficult to attend in person.

Helen Walmsley from the charity told the Courier that seeds will also be handed out at the ceremony, in plantable paper hearts.
