Following donations of £10,000 for Hospice Isle of Man and Rebecca House, the Isle of Man Anti-Cancer Association recently took part in a visit to Hospice to learn about the impact their donations will make.

The money raised for the Hospice has been used to refurbish one of the bathrooms in the in-patient Unit.

As well as housing the existing multi-functional bath, the new wet-room style bathroom can now also accommodate patients, which means those who need to be bathed from the comfort of their chairs or beds, can now use the facility.

Anne Mills, CEO of Hospice Isle of Man said: ’One of Isle of Man Anti-Cancer’s key aims is to work with local bodies in the area of palliative care and the provision of additional facilities, comforts and amenities for cancer patients.

’We are so grateful to Isle of Man Anti-Cancer for their continued generosity and support.’

The money raised for Rebecca House was used to provide a bath lift that enables children and adults, who suffer from seizures, to bathe safely.

Many of the children that fall under Rebecca House’s care are prone to regular seizures and the charity have said they believe this piece of equipment will make a huge difference to the lives of those who need assistance with things we take for granted.

Malcolm Clague, chairman of Isle of Man Anti-cancer said: ’We are extremely proud to continue to work closely with Hospice and were delighted to go and see how the money donated had been put to good use.

’Meeting the staff that use the equipment day in day out really emphasised just what a difference our contribution made.’
