This week’s meeting was focused on members showing their images from the summer macro challenge held at Ballaghennie.
The brief was two hours in a restricted area to study and photograph the smaller things in our world.
All photos were to be taken between 11am and 1pm within walking distance of the Ballaghennie car park with members given the challenge of photographing insects, plants and flowers and shoreline.
The monthly challenge introduced by Barry Murphy over a year ago and still extremely well supported by Isle of Man Photographic Society members was this month chosen by Beryl Quayle, the subject autumn.
Together the macro challenge and the monthly challenge gave us in excess of 100 images many with commentary from the members that took the image.
Beryl has nominated Jonathan Carey to choose Novembers challenge. So this month Jonathan has chosen ’Bridges of Man (but not in a Glen)’
Our next meeting on November 13 will be a presentation by astronomer Howard Parkin.
The society meets at the Arts Society building (Thie Ellyn) in Worthington Road, Douglas, on Wednesday evenings, all meetings starting at 7.30pm.
All meetings are open to the public (with a modest fee for non-members) and all will be given a very warm welcome.
More details of the society and its programme can be found on our website at www.iomps.com.
The society gratefully acknowledges the support of the Arts Council.
