Several Isle of Man TT regulars have been named on the provisional entry list for next month’s Macau Grand Prix.
The annual motorsport road racing event will be held at the Guia Circuit in the Chinese region at the end of November, with a raft of Mountain Course regulars making the long journey to the Far East.
Topping the line-up is 14-time TT winner Peter Hickman who will be looking to add to his impressive record of four victories at the circuit, but there is no place for his team-mate Davey Todd.
The latter has endured a frustrating year since being injured at the Daytona 200 in Florida during March which forced him to miss this year’s TT and Classic TT, which form part of the selection process for the Macau GP.
Manxies Mikey Evans and Marcus Simpson have been named in the 20-man startlist and will ride an RC Express Honda and Penz13 Racing Team BMW respectively.
Other familiar names include TT regulars Paul Jordan, Almaric Blanc, Kevin Keyes, Timothee Monot, Rob Hodson, Julian Trummer, Eddy Ferre, Sam West and Maurizio Bottalico, the latter stepping in for Erno Kostamo who remains sidelines after being injured in a crash at this year’s TT.
The 58th edition of the Macau Grand Prix gets underway with free practice on Thursday, November 19 followed by qualifying on the Friday ahead of the 12-lap race taking place on Saturday, November 21.
The event has been hit by disruption in recent years, with the 2024 edition cancelled because of bad weather conditions which led to the trophies being awarded to the top three riders in qualifying: Todd, Kostamo and Hickman respectively. Todd won last year’s race ahead of Hicky.
