The weather forecast from the Met Office:
Dry for much of today with bright intervals as winds fall light, although mist and low cloud may affect some coasts and hills. However, heavy rain will then arrive around late afternoon or early evening, with winds increasing later in the evening. Maximum temperature a very mild 14 Celsius.
Most of tonight will see further rain as winds become strong to gale force from the south or southwest, then later in the night the rain will clear.
Dry through the day tomorrow, as the strong winds gradually ease. Then turning windy again during the night, with patchy rain developing.
Mostly dry on New Year’s Day, but windy with strong to gale force southerly winds slow to ease.
