An internationally-acclaimed Welsh folk band with a strong connection to the island are embarking on their farewell tour this weekend.
Jamie Smith’s Mabon are calling it a day after spending more than 20 years together, and are spending their last year together by playing shows up and down the UK, with the occasional trip to Europe thrown in too.
They kick off their tour with a concert in Pontypridd, in Wales, with other performances at top music festivals such as the Sidmouth Folk Festival and the Festival Interceltique
de Lorient in July planned during their 28-date epic jaunt.
More dates may be added as the year goes on.
The band have generated a huge international following, releasing seven original albums and performing hundreds of shows across the world.
Jamie Smith now lives in Peel, as does Mabon guitarist Paul Rogers, with both musicians playing an active role in the island’s traditional music scene.
