If you’re a regular at Corkills Garage in Onchan, you may have noticed something different about a staff member who serves hot baps at the counter.
Jill Morris, who heads the kitchen, has braved the shavers in aid of the charity Manx Breast Cancer Support Group.
The event took place at the garage on Main Road.
So far about £1,500 has been raised through the Douglas resident’s efforts.
However, Roz Corkill, owner of the garage, has told the Manx Independent that they are still in the middle of counting the amount donated overall.
She said: ’It was absolutely fantastic.
’A lot of people came down to see Jill have her head shaved.
’She was an absolute star.’
Jill’s head was shaved by Julie Stokes from Scissors - a hairdressing salon that is based in the village.
Roz continued: ’Jill was a bit nervous beforehand and she is probably feeling a bit cooler then she did previously.
’Her daughters came down and all the staff at the garage were very supportive.
’Everybody was dressed up in Corkills, turning pink for the event.
’Last year another member of staff had his beard shaved off. It was a thick, black beard.’
Roz explained that Jill has been a part of the Corkills team for a couple of years.
’It’s a big decision to have your head shaved. She wanted to do something that would inspire people to get together and support charity.
’It’s a charity that has always been supported at the garage.’
Roz added: ’I think it’s absolutely wonderful. Ian, my husband who also owns the garage, and I are very proud of her and want to say "well done" to her.’
