An island-based singer songwriter has released a song to raise funds for the Ukraine humanitarian crisis.
Jon Lightfield (above) released ‘For No Reason’ through the Power On record label at the beginning of this week.
The song was written especially about the Ukraine crisis and Jon has put the track on sale through his Bandcamp page, with every penny going towards related charities.
Jon sings and plays guitar on the strident, powerful song, with his wife Jane on backing vocals.
‘This song is nothing about me and all about Ukraine,’ said Jon.
‘I have tried to do something at least. It might not work, but I did not sit still and watch the bully Putin creating chaos after the whole world have tried to comeback from the Covid.
‘The first verses are how we cannot sit still and just watch this happen, and the last verses are meant to represent the Ukraine people talking to Putin.’
The song will be available on all online stores and streaming services from Wednesday, March 23.
