Despite being hit by the burgeoning crisis over the coronavirus, a charity fund rasing effort still managed to raise hundreds of pounds.

The annual memorial day for the late and much-missed music promoter Jonno Gollow, which encourages people to wear an old and cherished band T-shirt to work, took place on Friday, March 20.

However, by then, much of society had been swept up in the newly-announced measures to combat the spread of the coronavirus and, as a result, not as many people took part as the organisers would have hoped.

One group from Synapse 360 sent a group picture, although many people were already working from home by then.

Several people posted pictures of themselves wearing their favourite shirts, including music producer Gypo Buggane, Dave Hattersley and Zoe Bennett, who wore her favourite Nirvana T-shirt.

Organiser Adrian Cowin, from Aston International Limited, where Jonno used to work, said: ’Unfortunately, due to the coronavirus pandemic, the event was not very successful this year. However, we hope it will be back next year, bigger than ever!

’The JustGiving page had raised more than £130 before we closed it,and we still have more donations to come in, which will be donated to the music charity Soundcheck. To make a donation contact Jenni Smith from SoundCheck by emailing [email protected]

The next T-shirt day is set for March 19, 2021.
