A young boy has ridden 22 miles - the equivalent of 100 lengths of a road behind his house in Maughold, for charity.
Joshuah Barlow, aged 11, decided to take part in the Captain Tom 100 Challenge on May 1.
The challenge asked people all over the world to do a challenge involving the number 100 to raise money for the Captain Tom Foundation charity, or a chosen charity.
Joshuah decided to raise money for his grandmother’s workplace, Crossroads Care.
He said: ’My nanna Christine works with Young Carers. With Crossroads they get to do lots of fun stuff that other kids like me and my friends can do with our families.
’Sometimes it isn’t possible for Young Carers to do all that regular stuff because they have too much going on at home, or it’s too difficult for their family.
’I think all kids should get to do cool stuff now and then or hang out with other kids - so I would like to raise some money to help that happen.’
Joshuah said that he loves going on his bike with his grandad.
’I used to be really nervous because I had a bad bike accident a few years ago and really hurt my face,’ he said.
’It’s one of my favourite things now though, that’s why I did a bike riding challenge.’
Crossroads Care said via its Facebook page: ’A MASSIVE well done to Joshuah on completing such an incredible challenge, we all think you’re an absolute superstar. We would also like to thank him for supporting Crossroads by taking part in the Captain Tom 100 challenge.
’Joshuah has already raised £200 which is double his target total so congratulations to him and thank you to everyone who has made a donation!’
