lA children’s gardening club has been planting the national Ukrainian flower at Arbory primary school as a symbolic gesture of solidarity.
The GRIN (Garden. Recharge. Inspire. Nourish.) group have begun their planting season with sunflowers.
Founder Jane Glover told Manx Radio that the sunflower was also one of the main exports of the country, and represented the optimism of the rising sun in the east.
She added that she hoped that the Ukrainians’ spirit would by lifted by messages of support from around the world, which is why they documented the planting and shared it online.
