Never one to duck a bad pun, the Great Laxey Duck Race was top of the bill this past week.
The race was held on Sunday on the Laxey river from the Salmon Centre to the finish line at Cooil Roy.
The day began with an open day held at Laxey fire station.
The Great Laxey Mines Railway was again steaming through the valley with duck race ticket holders reciving a free ride.
There was also bouncy castles and an ice cream stall ensuring the annual event remains a firm family favourite.
The duck race was raising funds for Laxey and Lonan Heritage Trust.
The winning duck won its lucky owner £150, with second taking £100 and third £75.
Laxey and Lonan Heritage Trust fund many projects in the area and run a visitor welcome centre and shop on Mines Road.
The day raised just over £1,000, which LLHT has revealed will be shared with the Fireman’s charity.
The course of the race was much shorter this year,
In previous years the race ran the length of the river down to the harbour.
The top three ducks this year were: 1, number 1211; 2, 475; 3, 308.
All ducks were returned safely.
Organisers say if anyone hasn’t collected their prize they can do so at the LLHT Gift Shop. They thanked Laxey fire station for its support.
