Isle of Man Newspapers and 3fm are joining forces for this year’s Royal Manx Show.

The two media companies have neighbouring stands at the show, which takes place at Knockaloe, near Peel, on Friday and Saturday (August 10 and 11).

Budding journalists are invited to come along and learn the skills they need to gain their own ’press pass’.

Staff from Isle of Man Newspapers’ editorial team will guide them through a series of activites, covering everything from learning how to write shorthand to writing headlines.

Everyone who completes the activities, which are free to take part, will be presented with a ’press pass’.

In addition, ’Crack the Safe’ to be in with a chance of winning a Nissan X-Trail.

It’s free to enter and open to people aged 16 and over.

Participants will get one chance to guess the six-digit code to unlock the safe.

Get it wrong and you’ll have to go to the back of the queue to try again.

Isle of Man Newspapers editor Richard Butt said: ’We look forward to welcoming visitors to our stand at the Royal Show.

’Youngsters interested in journalism will enjoy the chance to learn the skills reporters use on a daily basis from our editorial staff.

’And a Nissan X-Trail is up for grabs for anyone who is feeling lucky in Crack the Safe.’

Isle of Man Newspapers staff will be at the show on both days.

Richard and reporter Jess Ward will be at the show on the Friday.

And deputy editor Jackie Turley, sports editor John Watterson and chief reporter Adrian Darbyshire will be at the show on the Saturday.

Richard said: ’If you have something that you would like to be covered or any comments to make on our products please come along and speak to us.’

l Isle of Man Newspapers will be at stand 105 and 3fm will be at 106.
