Another treat during lockdown, this time delivered to your door. Leela’s Kitchen by Kumar Menon is now offering an Indian thali delivery service, using their award-winning spices and some blends made exclusively for thalis.

Kumar explained: ’Thali is a Hindi word for plate. A thali is usually accompanied by small round bowls called katoris, though there are also thalis made with built-in compartments like mine for different dishes.

’I will be catering for vegetarians/vegan, meat and fish lovers (veg thali, chicken thali, mixed meat thali, fish thali). Special dietary requirements will also be catered for.

’They will be delivered free of charge in special disposable thali tray with lids and consist of two main dishes, one side dish, one starter, one dessert, turmeric infused vegetable pilaf rice and chapati.’

As an example the chicken thali, which is £20, contains onion bhaji; chicken in dry fried coconut sauce; Kozhi sukka; Tadka dhal; turmeric infused veg pilaf rice; Gulab jamun and chapati.

The service will be available Thursday to Saturday from 5-9pm and orders must be placed before 2pm for same day delivery.

Kumar said: ’I will be rolling this out initially to IM1, IM2 and IM3 postcodes only. If you’re outside this zone please email or call me on 240200 to arrange a delivery time.’
