The Laxey and Lonan Allotments Society raised nearly £400 during its annual ’seed swap’.
The funds will help to rebuild a shed.
After the event, there was nearly a shoebox full of seeds leftover.
They were given to Scoill yn Jubilee in Douglas. Reception children will be planting plants and seeds.
All of the leftover gardening books and many of the veggie seeds went to the prison.
As part of their rehabilitation strategy, prisoners are now being encouraged to join the horticulture programme and grow their own food.
Currently they’re growing produce to feed the prisoners and staff and are donating excess to the food bank.
