On Thursday night, the Villa Marina will host the presentation of the awards for this year’s Isle of Man Newspapers’ Awards for Excellence.

The awards night has become an iconic feature in the island’s social calendar, a glittering black-tie event attended by guests fromgovernment and local business, along with all 48 awards finalists and their - often very vocal - friends and supporters.

Even if you don’t have tickets, you can still watch live coverage from the event including some of the guests arriving on the red carpet and interviews backstage.

Isle of Man Newspapers has teamed up with 3fm, who will be bringing along presenters Ron Berry, Jason Quinn, Matt Fletcher and Tony James to provide the live stream coverage.

The interviews with the Awards winners will be available to watch live on Facebook on the 3fm Isle of Man and Isle of Man Newspapers pages.

The compere for the evening is comedian Miles Jupp, who hosts The News Quiz on Radio 4, and is also known for appearances on Mock the Week and Just a Minute and for playing Archie the Inventor in CBeebies’ Balamory. Local singers Simon Lynch, who appeared on the X Factor, David Holland and Olivia Black are also on the bill and the entertainment line-up is completed by dance group Gravity Live whose repertoire features aerial acrobatics and performance pyrotechnics.

Interviewees backstage during Act One will include DED Minister Laurence Skelly, Microgaming boss Roger Raatgever and the president of the Isle of Man Chamber of Commerce, Chris Allen.

During Act Two it will be the Fuel Group, a Chamber of Commerce committee step up to offer younger members of Chamber a voice.

The Fuel Group has grown rapidly in size and influence. Members have been working on a ’FutureIsle’ project, a review of some of the major global trends set to emerge over the next 25 to 30 years, how they may affect our island and where the opportunities for businesses will be.

To log on to the live stream coverage, go to www.iomtoday.co.im or www.excellence-awards.im on November 16 and you will find links to take you there.
