RNLI crew of Port St Mary turned their hands to fundraising and assisting their local community in cleaning their cars on Saturday.

The car wash took place at the entrance to the Alfred Pier in Port St Mary where the drivers got to help themselves to tea, coffee and homemade cakes, while the crew made their cars sparkle.

The RNLI thanked car parts company CES for helping with the buckets and supplies and making the day possible.

What the crew did not expect was the arrival of one of Mann Crane Hire’s cranes, but they proved that no task was too big and many hands made light work of this giant machine.

The crew and supporters of Port St Mary Lifeboat would like to say a massive thanks to everyone who came to support them and whose donations helped to raise £1,130 for the RNLI.

The RNLI have struggled to raise funds this year because of the Covid-19 pandemic and this was the first fundraising event that Port St Mary crew has been able to host since lockdown ended.

The money raised will go towards helping to keep this vital emergency service operational and saving lives at sea.
