Most of Ramsey’s street lighting is remaining lit until 2am during the TT Practice and Race Week.

Ramsey Commissioners’ chairman Andy Cowie said: ’TT fortnight is always very busy, with many events happening later at night. Keeping our street lights on until 2am for the TT period will assist any visitors who may not be familiar with the town to get back to their accommodation safely.

’The extended timing will also help those returning to Ramsey on the late night-buses during the TT period.

’We would like to thank Manx Utilities, which maintains Ramsey’s lights for us, for its support with the installation of a new smart controller which allows us to make this change at minimal cost.

’TT is always a busy time for the commission’s workforce who will be out in force keeping our town tidy by doing extra refuse collections, cleaning and assisting at events as well as undertaking their usual duties, many of which are disrupted by road closures and the race schedule.’
