After the success of the Deep South Festival last weekend the Manx festival run continues this weekend with the Dark Horse Festival.

Now in its second year, the festival held at Ballakillingan Farm near Ramsey boasts a line-up featuring both local and UK acts.

Flying the flag for the local acts at various points over the weekend will be Han-FX, JorDMC and The Bendy Sex Whistles, Reetz Stagg, The Ballaghs, Slow Decay, The Fecktones, Post War Stories, Phil Reynolds & The Dearly Departed, The Fletcher Christian Mutiny, Dan Buttimore, The Bad Noise, The Tides, Warbird, Baad Acid, The Shads and Sandfingers amongst many others.

Following their recent visit to the island the Baltic States, fresh from their appearance at the aforementioned Dark Horse Festival on Friday, make their way to The Royal Hotel in Peel on Saturday night.

Featuring former Wretched Pearls front woman Helen Morrison in their ranks alongside Jev Maligns and Vadim Sidorov, the Indie, Electronica, Synth Pop and Techno band pick out their influences from the likes of Boards of Canada, Jeff Buckley, Radiohead, Portishead, Aphex Twin, XX and The Brian Jonestown Massacre.

The Liverpool based band released their debut E.P. ’Boxes’ in 2014 which was well received by both radio and on social media.

Two singles ’Kontrol’ and ’Boxes’ were named as tracks of the week by a number of radio stations and received airplay across the UK included BBC Radio 6, BBC London and BBC Merseyside.

The band has inked a deal with label Castles in Space for their debut album which is due to be released in due course.

Elsewhere, if you didn’t manage to grab a ticket for The Dark Horse Festival and you happen to head to Jaks this Saturday night, you’ll find Konstruktion in residence.

The two piece band made up by Joy White on vocals and Nige B on keys and vocals have their roots in live versions of dance anthems from the modern chart to ’old skool’ classics.

If a little bit of Calvin Harris, David Guetta, Rihanna and Lady GaGa at one end through to Diana Ross and Tina Turner at the other end of the spectrum takes your fancy then this will be well worth a look at.

Finally this week and making our way west to Peel, Ian Thompson heads to his now regular slot at The Creek tomorrownight (Friday).

Featuring a set made up from classics from the likes of The Kinks, David Bowie, The Beatles, Simon and Garfunkel, R.E.M, and the like, if this sounds like the soundtrack to your type of night out then you can’t go far wrong.
