The two new TT venues, Hooded Ram Festival and Bushy’s TT Village, are giving local bands lots of opportunities for live performances and audiences the chance to catch some great gigs.
Tonight will see local rock band Broken Rooster headlining at Bushy’s. The band features Mike Cowin on vocals; Darren Gray and Mike Guplea on guitar; Graham Stephenson on bass, and Adrian Gray on drums.
They originally formed February 2010 as The 3 Amigos, and reformed as Broken Rooster in 2017. Their set is built around rock, blues, indie covers and originals.
On Saturday night Bushy’s hosts Ska band Buncha Skankers, followed on Sunday by Symbollix who originally formed in 2010 as ’Five Blokes’.
The name changed to Symbollix after the first change of personnel in 2011. After two more changes in the line up during 2013, Symbollix became the current five-man line up.
The band roots itself in mostly 70s classic rock. The setlist combines the likes of ZZ Top, The Who, Wings, Bad Company, Whitesnake, Cream and The Rolling Stones and features John Ruscoe, George Hughes, John Ryan, Martin McEvely and Stewart Steptoe in their line-up.
The current line up has over 150 years combined experience of playing in gigging bands so you can expect a great night, guaranteed to get you rocking!
Hooded Ram Festival hosts a late-night Dance Party on Friday featuring Riffs at the Ram followed by Dead Princes.
The latter is made up of McKenna on vocals; Owain on ’guitar and noises’; Phil on bass, and Mike on ’drums and shouting’. They play a set packed with modern and classic rock covers and aim to ’make your ears bleed (in a good way)’.
it all kicks off at midnight and you can expect a great party atmosphere - the band has advised everyone to ’bring your glowsticks’!
A number of local bands will be playing both venues, including Tomorrow’s Story who headlined at Bushy’s on Monday and are set to play at Hooded Ram Festival next Wednesday (June 6).
The indie rock band, which consists of Mike Willmott on rhythm guitar and lead vocals; Jake Grimshaw on lead guitar and backing vocals; Dom Scaddan on bass and backing vocals, and Ryan Kinnin on drums, is signed to the Spinnup label.They won second place at this year’s Guild in Battle of The Bands 2018 - Original Songs, which was adjudicated by Paul Roberts of The Stranglers.
Citing their influences as The Hunna, Catfish & The Bottlemen, Arctic Monkeys, Circa Waves, The Libertines, Blink-182, Green Day, Tomorrow’s Story offers energetic live performances with a set comprising of original material and covers including some fan favourites.
