Composers are being invited to enter a music competition run by a humanist group on the island.

The Isle of Man Freethinkers want to find original pieces of music to be used in ceremonies based around humanist, non-secular and non-religious principles.

The organisation says they are looking for pieces of music that are two to three minutes in length, and that their intention is to produce music that is freely available and easily used by people who want to hold humanist ceremonies.

There will be a prize of £750 for the best lament written, along with £1,000 for the best complete suite of music and £250 for music written by composers under 21.
